How to Get to Padang Padang Beach

Padang Padang Beach is located at the village of Pecatu on the south-west coastline of the Bukit Peninsula. It’s a 20 to 30 minute drive from the Bali International Airport and a quick 10-minute drive from the cliff temple of Uluwatu. If you are coming from Kuta, Seminyak or Canggu it is approximately a 1-hour to 1.5-hour journey to Padang Padang Beach. Beach access is down the slope across the road from a large parking area. Prior to this is a bridge that connects the two sides of the limestone cliff, offering a glimpse down to the beach from up high.

Best Time to Visit Padang Padang Beach

​All year round is a good time to go to Padang Padang Beach. If the sun is out, the more reason to get there as soon as possible, be it to surf or just to soak it all in. However, the best time for beaches, Swimming, and Suntanning in Bali: April to October are the sunniest driest months with lots of sun. But you can get good beach weather any month of the year.​

What to Expect at Padang Padang Beach

There are small vendors set up down on the sand at Padang Padang Beach selling locally made souvenirs such as colourful sarongs, hats, t-shirts, board shorts, stubby coolers, friendship bracelets etc. If you are looking to ride some waves at the famous Padang Padang Surf Break there is a small beach shack run by the local surf life-saving guards who offer surfboard rentals for around IDR 100,000 to IDR 150,000 for 2-hours. For beginner surfers, you can ask one of the locals to take you out for some surf lessons.

On low tide, there is a lot of exploring to be had around the foot of Padang Padang Bali cliffs. Natural rock formations and secluded beaches make for excellent photo opportunities or the perfect spot to read a book. For food and drinks, there are half a dozen local warungs to order fresh seafood or a local nasi goreng dish to fill the stomach and your choice of soft drinks, coconut water or a cold Bintang beer to wash it all down. All this for as little as IDR 50,000 to IDR 75,000.

Things To Do at Padang Padang Beach

The uniqueness of the site with a shady background hills and steep rocks, are characteristic of the beach. All of the advantages of this beach make the tourists who come to this place beside surfing, spending their time by doing activities such as swimming, and sunbathing. Although the big waves beyond the reef breaks are limited to advanced surfers, the shore is great for family fun and leisure.​

While you're in town visiting Padang Padang Beach, you can discover the sights within a few miles of the area. You might spend a leisurely day outdoors at Uluwatu Cliffs and Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park. Dip your toes in the water at Uluwatu Beach, Balangan Beach, and Jimbaran Beach. Create some family memories at New Kuta Green Park. Uluwatu Temple and Bingin Beach are both worth a visit while you're checking out the area.

The best time of year for surfing Padang Padang is the dry season, which lasts from June to September. April, May and October, which border the rainy season, also provide good waves and have the advantage of fewer surfers to share them with.​
